THE ORIGIN OF CELLUFOAM

We did not set out to make cushioning.

It began as research into making paper lighter and thicker. Then one question about steam released during drying led to Cellufoam, a new paper-fiber-based foamed cushioning material.

“What if this energy could be held inside the paper, just for a moment?”

BEYOND SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING

A new material platform
built with paper foam.

WHAT IS CELLUFOAM?

Paper fiber transformed
into functional foam structure.

Cellufoam is a material and process platform that transforms paper fiber into three-dimensional foam structures. Paper fiber is pulped and formed, then dried and foamed to complete the product. Structures are designed around product geometry and use, with Hard Zone and Soft Zone integrated within a single form.

START WITH YOUR QUESTION

What are you looking to change?

Explore whether Cellufoam may fit your current cushioning material, product geometry and production requirements.

01

Can EPS or EPE be replaced with paper-based cushioning?

Cellufoam was developed to apply a paper-fiber foam structure in protective applications where petroleum-based foams are used. It is not a like-for-like replacement for every EPS or EPE application; each product requires validation.

PRODUCT VALIDATION REQUIRED
02

Can you create a 3D cushioning structure around our product?

A 3D structure can be designed around product geometry and use conditions. Manufacturability, tooling, thickness and protective performance are reviewed for each product.

PRELIMINARY FIT REVIEW
03

Can hard support and soft cushioning zones share one structure?

Hard Zone and Soft Zone can be arranged within a single form as a structural design approach. Compression and recovery by zone are confirmed through testing.

VALIDATION REQUIRED
04

Is Cellufoam designed for fast production?

Under research and validation conditions, the core foaming stage has been achieved within three seconds. Total cycle time varies by product geometry, mold quantity, equipment and operating conditions.

CONDITIONALLY VERIFIED
05

How do we find out whether Cellufoam fits our product?

We review product dimensions, weight, current packaging, annual volume, distribution environment and required performance. The process then moves through samples and tooling, performance validation and production discussion.

PRELIMINARY FIT REVIEW
06

Can we join as a manufacturing, sales, development or global partner?

PAPFORM reviews region and capability through role-specific applications. Specific business terms are discussed separately after review.
